Scope and controller
Roman Meyer operates rand.by and is the controller for personal data processed through this service. Contact details appear below. This notice covers the website and its random data API.
Requests and technical data
When you visit the website or call the API, the server processes your IP address, request time, requested URL and parameters, browser information and technical errors. These data enable delivery, security and troubleshooting, based on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Hosting providers may process these data on our behalf. Technical records are retained only as long as necessary for those purposes or a legal obligation.
Inputs and browser settings
Many generators run in your browser; API and server features send their parameters to the server. Do not enter confidential or real personal data into test datasets or URLs. Generator preferences and theme are stored locally; a cookie remembers your language. See the cookie policy for details.
Email enquiries
If you email us, we process your address, message and any information you provide to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual enquiries, otherwise Article 6(1)(f). Messages are deleted when no longer needed, subject to statutory retention duties.
External services
The photo tool requests images from Unsplash. Loading a photo sends your IP address and browser request data to its image servers. PayPal and YooMoney receive data when you follow their donation links. These providers process data under their own privacy policies and may operate outside the EEA. Where we commission processing outside the EEA, GDPR transfer requirements, including appropriate safeguards where required, apply.
Your rights
Under the applicable GDPR conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis. Contact us using the details below. You may complain to a supervisory authority, including the authority in Lower Saxony or where you live or work.
Changes
We update this notice when the service or its processing changes. The date above identifies the current version. Contact us if you have questions about personal data.
